INSTALLATIONS

CostGardTM Condensate Drain Seal

The CostGard™ Condensate Drain Seal is applicable to all types of draw-through HVAC systems, within the range of characteristics enumerated below:

  1. Cooling Capacity:  Up to 100 tons

  2. Negative pressure inside the drain pan compartment:  To  –5.0 inches of water column

  3. Size of drain pan connection: Up to 1.5 inches diameter

The CostGard™ Condensate Drain Seal is suitable for use in both indoor and outdoor locations.  It may be installed on rooftop units, above the ceiling units or floor located units.

The following sketches illustrate how the CostGard™ Condensate Drain Seal may be installed on various HVAC systems.  Installation Examples (370kb)

In detail, these installations differ greatly. However, in a fundamental sense, they are identical, in that each meets the following installation criteria:

1. Pipe Connections

The CostGard™ Condensate Drain Seal must be connected, with piping, to the HVAC system at the following three (3) points:

(a) The condensate drain pan connections where condensate traps are usually connected;

(b) A hole cut into the fan/drain pan compartment, directly above the drain pan connection; and

(c) A hole cut into the air supply duct or air supply plenum, downstream of the fan.

2. Pipe Routing

All pipes must be routed in such a way that they do not interfere with service access doors.

3. Pipe Supports

The pipes must be supported and fixed in place in order to minimize potential damage to the piping and to the CostGard™ Condensate Drain Seal.

Basic Installation Instructions are included with each CostGard Condensate Drain Seal shipped.
